For our date this week we went to the creamery for ice cream and then went on a walk on the Maeser pathway. Those of you who haven’t been there in a while, they’ve really upgraded it and it is really pretty. They have a creek, some waterfalls, grassy areas, etc. The night of our date, there was an alumni activity going on where they were floating lanterns on the creek. It was a fun surprise and really pretty. The activity was almost over and they had extra lanterns, so they let us light some and we followed them down the stream. The activity was about ‘igniting’ your career, but there are a lot of other cool activities that teach life lessons that you could use these for too. It was a lot of fun!
Sean and I both had a lot of homework this week, so other than the date, the debate and general conference we were mostly working. I took Nathan outside several times though, trying to capitalize on the last of the good weather. He likes to throw the rubber stuff they fill the playgrounds with on the slide.
He also LOVES pushing these play lawn mowers around, especially if they make noise.
He also loves this little wagon. This toy is actually his and he always asks to take it on walks when we go outside.

One of my favorite talks from general conference this time was Uchtdorf’s. He talked about being happy now, in the moment. He related a story about how he enjoys bike riding with his wife and sometimes he gets a little competitive. When he does, she reminds him, “It is not a race, it’s a journey. Enjoy the moment.” He then talked about how when we listen to a piece of beautiful music, we don’t spend the whole time anticipating the end. Likewise, we should not make our happiness dependent on a future date, but enjoy the moment now.
